Nike Tiempo 8 - Camo Launch Edition
Product Design
Material Innovation
Graphic Design
Project designed while at Nike in Global Football (Soccer). A big thanks to the incredible team I was fortunate to work with to make this happen.
Released in 2019.
The Tiempo 8 Camo was created as a "Player Familiarization" design. During player testing these shoes are generally 'blacked out' to hide the design forms of future upcoming products. Inspired by my background as a car designer, I decided to create a 'Camouflage' similar to the ones used to cover future car designs while testing on public roads. This technique is used to hide design lines, forms, themes and materials used.
The camouflage on this special Pre Launch Tiempo is designed by using a digitally distorted, repeated Tiempo.. These boots were worn in training by great players such as Virgil van Dijk, Sergio Ramos, Gerard Piqué and many more.

GOAL
create hype for Tiempo 8 pre-launch without marketing or brand budget, while keeping the design secret.
It all started with an idea. Pre launch, boots are usually given to pro player to test as blacked out boots, but those are rarely efficient in hiding design features.
The camo was born.
